    For the second consecutive year, Bezeq OnLine has sponsored a training program for youth at risk in cooperation with Elem. Starting with the holiday of Sukkot, the company hosted a co-ed youth group for a series of workshops on sales and service.
    The course objective is to create a positive future image while strengthening life skills, creating a sense of ability and enhancing the self-esteem of the participating youth. After the training process, the company will employ the graduates as part of the Bezeq OnLine family, and provide them with a work environment with added value.
    Twenty young boys and girls participated in the program for a month-and-a-half, during which they learned the service and sales profession.
    The group's instructors, who are all call center managers, voluntarily mentored the participants, providing them with important tools for success, while promoting employment opportunities for them in business organizations.
    The course included the following topics: principles of teamwork, the essence of service, basic principles of sales and service, communication skills, dealing with customers, tools for handling failure, the psychological value of employment, self-presentation tools, a personal interview, and work evaluation with supervisors.
    The successful cooperation with the Elem Association began a year ago (May 2009), with the inauguration of the first training course. At the time, 13 teenagers participated in a week-long course that was taught by volunteer call centers managers from Bezeq OnLine. At the end of that course, 10 teenage boys joined one of the company’s service call centers.

    We asked the teens: How does the project help you?
    N.: Financial peace of mind, financial stability. I learned many things. I learned to control behaviors, separate between personal life and work.
    H.: Working with customers teaches you about life. I became more patient and more caring; I always like to help people, it is in my nature. I became more responsible and more mature. You must be on time, and cannot be late; there is a dress code. I feel equal to everyone else.
    N.: You learn restraint, to understand people better, understand human nature. I started speaking with my parents more, even when they are angry. This job teaches you skills for life.
    N.: My father is very proud of me. He tells everyone about my progress. This project is one of the best things that has happened in my life. This is the first time I feel good about being part of the system.
    H.: I agree with N. It’s a very powerful experience, I'm glad I got to be part of this project, to be a pioneer. I got a lot from the project, I learned about myself. Work is easy for me now. I received a promotion: I am now a mentor for new representatives; I listen in on new representatives and provide feedback. My job has influenced relationships in my life. In the past, I spent most of my time at home, fighting with my family. Now when I work, they miss me when I’m away. The regular salary helps demonstrate that I am responsible; I learn new things that you normally learn at an older age. People perceive me differently; I’ve become a role model. My mom is happy, and I’m changing and improving.
